WE can confirm Niall Curneen has left his role as the club’s CEO, but remain at the club as a non-executive director.
Niall joined the club in 2018, firstly as Youth Development Officer, before becoming the club’s General Manager a year later.
More recently Niall transitioned into the role as Chief Executive Officer as he headed up a growing operation at the club.
He has moved on to take up a role outside the club, but remains on Executive Board.
Kenny Bruce has paid tribute to the work Niall carried out at Inver Park.
He said: “Niall has been an outstanding steward of our club for over seven years.
“From the moment I first met him with Gareth Clements at the Curran Court in July 2018, I knew he would play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Larne Football Club. “Over the last four years, he has led the club with unwavering dedication, care, and commitment and I cannot thank him enough for everything he has given to Larne FC during that time.
“As people grow in life, success naturally brings new opportunities, and while we are sad to see Niall step away from his day-to-day role, we are absolutely delighted to see him take on an exciting new challenge, one where we know he will thrive.
“He leaves with our full blessing and support, and it speaks volumes of his passion for Larne FC that he remains on the Board of Directors, continuing to drive forward many of the objectives he has helped shape.
“Niall’s stamp is firmly imprinted on the club’s journey so far and I have no doubt his influence will continue to be seen in many of our future achievements.”
As he moves to take up the new voluntary role with the club, Niall has also been reflecting on his time as an employee.
“I’ve always said that I was in a privileged position to sit in a senior position at the club, and reflecting on the last 5 ½ years with my family I realise just how privileged I have been,” he said.
“I’ve been supported by tremendous staff (operational and football) and an army of volunteers from across our club, from our board to our fans, our stewards to our matchday volunteers. I’m so grateful for the support that they have given me.
“It’s my time to give something back and I’m delighted to be able to stay involved as a non-exec director taking my seat beside our loyal board members and ownership group. I will stay active and support people the same way in which I have been supported throughout, and I feel I still have the energy and the passion to continue to have a positive influence on the club, just from a slightly different angle.
“I will be forever grateful to Kenny and Gareth, who brought me into the club 7 ½ years ago as academy director.
“They gave me an opportunity and they backed me, mentored me, pushed me and stretched me throughout. We have enjoyed a special period for the club and the town. I spoke to Kenny more than I speak to my wife, and I still do!
“I must also mention Tiernan who drove things on the field, and did so much to help me do the same off the pitch. Together, with Kenny we’ve shared some special moments as we gathered our momentum over the last seven years. We knew how to make each other tick and it will always be a period that I will cherish. I’m looking forward to continuing to strive for more success with the relationships that I have with Gary, Nathan and the extended coaching and playing staff. There is more for us all to achieve here at the club.”
