We are delighted to announce the appointment of Joanne Fitzsimmons as our new Chaplain for women and girls at the club.

Joanne (pictured above with William Noble and Donald Malomo-Paris) joins our growing chaplaincy team, working alongside club chaplain Ian Cahoon and boys Academy chaplain John Fitzsimmons.

At times, Chaplaincy plays a visible with events such as the annual Act of Remembrance and Carol Service, but Ian, John and now Joanne are always available for anyone who would like to have a one-to-one chat over a tea or coffee, with confidentiality always guaranteed.

Ahead of a new season getting underway for the sneior women’s team, Joanne is excited to officially take up the role.

She said: It’s an honour and a privilege to be appointed to this role.

“I’ve enjoyed getting to know the girls, staff and volunteers. Life can be tough and playing at this level brings added pressure. I hope I can be a support, a listening ear and an encouragement to anyone who may need it.”

Club Chaplain Ian Cahoon also welcomed her to the role. He added: “We are delighted to have Joanne on board.

“Sports Chaplaincy NI have done a great job in making sure there are not only chaplains all over the country, but there are also a growing number of clubs who now have more than one so that they can adequately support everyone under their care.

“It has been fantastic to see the growth of women’s and girls’ football at our club and this is another big step in supporting the work they’re doing.

“I have no doubt Joanne will do a great job in providing that care and support that we all need from time to time, I would encourage anyone who might want her support to reach out to her either through myself iancahoon@larnefc.com or directly to her.”
