Darrin Crawford’s under-18 side made a winning start to their league campaign last night, earning a fine 2-1 victory away to St Oliver Plunkett.
It proved to be a great start to the season for the young Inver side, with a new crop of players coming into the squad and winning away to last season’s under-18 Champions in the league opener.
Larne started the match very brightly and got their reward with a goal in just the second minute, after Rhys McAllister scored from an excellent corner.
Plunkett then came into the game and equalised on stroke of half time.
The second half was an evenly matched affair as the game ebbed and flowed, with both teams going close to taking the lead.
However, it was Larne who finished the game the stronger of the two sides and with five mins to go David Kernohan twisted his way through the defence before firing low into the net, after a great pass from Kerr.
Manager Darrin Crawford (pictured above) said: “It was a well deserved three points for the lads.
“They showed great desire to push for the win.
“We are next in action on Friday night, at home to Maiden City, with an 8pm kick-off. All support for the lads is greatly welcomed as always.”
