We are pleased to announce first team player Mark Randall and Darryl Smith as coaches for our U15 National League side ahead of the upcoming season, which will feature within the club’s new Professional Development Phase.
Randall, who needs no introduction to supporters as an existing first team player, is set to take on a lead coaching role with the academy’s U15 squad. The midfielder has enjoyed an illustrious playing career to date, which includes a first-hand insight into Arsenal’s famous academy set-up amongst other experiences which will be invaluable in the development of our next generation.
Accompanying Randall for the season is Darryl Smith, who joins the U15 squad from within the club’s existing academy structure. Smith, an experienced coach who has also been part of Glentoran’s academy, is currently completing his UEFA B Licence. Remaining with the group is Clifford Bell, who will continue in his role as Age Group Coordinator and coach next season.
Ryan Prentice, our Head of Professional Development Phase, expressed his delight at the coaching appointments:
“It’s great to be in a position whereby some of the more experienced first team players are able to get involved within our academy. The experience Mark has to offer the next generation will be truly invaluable, having played under the best coaches at some massive football clubs..
“Darryl is another fantastic coach who was already at the club and is exactly the type of person we want to have within the Professional Development Phase. As someone who is keen to improve himself, Darryl is undertaking the UEFA B Licence course which will no doubt further add to his skillset and benefit our U15 players in the long-term.
“I am also delighted Clifford is continuing in his role with the age group as he will provide continuity within the coaching team and will play an important role going forward both on and off the field.
“I have full confidence that Mark, Darryl and Clifford will take our U15 squad in the direction they need to go, and look forward to seeing progress throughout the season.”
Larne Football Club’s new Professional Development Phase targets players born in 2008-2011, aiming to enhance performance at youth level via a combination of first-class facilities, top quality coaching, increased contact time and a better introduction to analysis/strength and conditioning.
