U13 squad take to the pitch in aid of Ollie’s Army

Sep 21, 2023 | All News

Ahead of tomorrow night’s East Antrim derby against Carrick Rangers at Inver Park, academy player Charlie O’Brien and his teammates from our U13 squad are going the extra mile in aid of the Ollie’s Army campaign.

Earlier this year, Carrick Rangers academy player Ollie Willis was diagnosed with AML and his since undergone chemotherapy in a brave fight against the disease. As Ollie continues to fight, the ‘Ollie’s Army’ fundraising campaign was set up and has touched the hearts of many across Northern Ireland.

To support the campaign, our U13 player Charlie O’Brien has been running 3km every day in September and has so far raised a fantastic £700 for Ollie’s Army. On Friday night, Charlie will be joined by the rest of his teammates and coaches of our U13 academy squad, who will together run 3K and raise further awareness of Ollie’s Army. The run will finish with a lap of the Inver Park pitch at half-time during our first team game against Carrick Rangers.

FRIDAY NIGHT’S RUN

Our U13 squad will begin their run at 6.30pm from Larne Promenade, running directly to Inver Park in time for kick-off. Once the half-time whistle blows, the squad will take their position on the pitch and do a full lap to complete the 3km with the support of both sets of supporters.

HOW TO DONATE

You can support Charlie’s 3km per day fundraising campaign by clicking here. All funds raised will go directly towards the Ollie’s Army campaign.

Everyone at Larne Football Club sends its thoughts and prayers to Ollie and his family during this time – keep fighting, Ollie!
