LARNE manager Tiernan Lynch has been named October Manager of the Month by the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association.

The Invermen finished the month with a 100% record, thanks to Danske Bank Premiership wins over Dungannon Swifts, Carrick Rangers and Ballymena United. Larne also defeated local rivals Ballyclare Comrades and Crusaders on their way to the County Antrim Shield final.

Upon collecting the Belleek trophy, Lynch said, “I greatly appreciate winning this award and I accept it on behalf of the club as this is a collective honour. I am just a cog in the wheel.

“This award is the product of hard work by many people, both on and off the field. I’d like to thank the Football Writers’ for recognising that work.”

Larne conceded just one goal in the month, recording four clean sheets in the month.

A delighted Lynch said, “The key to our recent success is our work off the ball. We are a team that knows how to keep clean sheets. We do that by defending as a team.

“But Josh Robinson deserves praise. He has made a big difference to our defence with his experience and that has helped us. At the other end, Marty Donnelly is also playing the best football of his life. But our good start to the season is down to a team effort.”
