Larne Ladies maintained their fantastic start to the season with 6-0 win at home to Newhill on Friday night.
Amanda Morton and Cathy Dunn both grabbed a brace of goals while Georgia Crawford and 14-year-old Morgan Hanna – who was named Player of the Match – scored one apiece.
The Inver Women were the much more dominant side in the opening 20 minutes and they are rewarded with a goal from the in-form Cathy Dunn. After a great ball into the box from Amanda Morton, Dunn was on hand to fire in after a scramble in the box.
Within two minutes of the restart the home side had a second. Francesca Agnew made a run down the right wing and her cross found Amanda Morton, who slotted the ball past the Newhill goalkeeper.
The third arrived 30 minutes in for the Inver Women, as Dunn scored her second of the night. Morgan Hanna won the header in midfield and that allowed Dunn to race through and finish at the near post.
Ten minutes into the second half the referee pointed to the penalty spot as Larne had an opportunity to extend their advantage. Amanda Morton unselfishly handed the ball to Morgan Hanna – who was making her debut – and she stepped up to slotted the ball home to make it 4-0.
The fifth goals arrived 15 minutes later. This time substitute Georgia Crawford, was on the end of a pass from Jennifer Montgomery and she made no mistake to fire it into the roof of the net.
The final goal of the night came when Tara Scott headed the ball to Georgia Crawford and she turned provider this time, for Amanda Morton to add her second and Larne’s sixth of the game.
It was another impressive display from the Inver Women and was capped off with a Player of the Match performance from teenager Morgan Hanna.
