We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of 18-year-old Tara Gilmore from Ballyclare Comrades.
The Northern Ireland junior international joins Donald Malomo-Paris’ squad as a natural central defender, reinforcing the team’s defensive capabilities as our first signing ahead of the 2024 season.
Having enjoyed a successful stint with the Comrades, Gilmore played a role in securing a second-place finish in the NIWFA Championship last season. The defender’s achievements extend to international recognition, having represented Northern Ireland U17 level in games against Israel and the Republic of Ireland, showing her talent on a broader stage.
Expressing her enthusiasm at joining the Inver Reds, Gilmore said:
“It’s really attractive looking into Larne as a club – the one thing which stood our to me was the brilliant group of girls and the management staff.
“I’ll always work hard and play hard for the team, and hopefully we’ll be able to finish a bit higher up the table in the Premiership this coming season.”
Head of Women’s Recruitment William Noble expressed his delight with the club’s first signing of the transfer window, stating:
“It’s great for us to bolster the squad and bring in more competition for places. Tara is a tried and tested centre back who has enjoyed a strong season in the Championship, and we’re excited to see her grow and develop under the excellent coaches we have here at Inver Park.
“Tara will join up with the squad with immediate effect, with her energy and skill strengthening our options across the backline going into the new season. She will join up with her new teammates for strength and conditioning sessions later this month, before the start of pre-season in February.”
