SATURDAY has the potential to be a very big day for the club, as a win away to H&W Welders could secure the Bluefin Sport Championship title.
Last Saturday’s 3-0 win at home to Dundela secured a top three finish for the Inver Reds and consolidated their 18 point lead at the top of the division with seven games to play.
A win this Saturday will mean that Larne will be at least 18 points clear with six games to play, which mathematically wouldn’t quite secure the title. However, Larne enjoy a 42 goal advantage on goal difference and would only need to avoid six heavy defeats with Carrick Rangers winning every remaining match.
With Carrick Rangers 18 points behind and Portadown 19 points back, to secure the title outright, the least Larne need to do is match Portadown’s result at Ballinamallard United and better Carrick’s result at home to Dundela. A draw on Saturday could be enough for Larne if Portadown also draw and Carrick lose.
A large crowd is expected to travel to Tillysburn Park for the potential title decider, and we have some advice for supporters.
– The car park at Tillysburn Park is likely to be restricted to players and staff only. There will therefore be on street parking only in the vicinity of the ground. We would therefore ask supporters to park legally and with consideration for local residents whilst also being mindful that the entrance to the ground sits on a major junction.
– For those who intend to travel by train, the closest station is at Sydenham, which is a 10-15 minute walk from the ground. The last train from Larne which will arrive in time for kick off departs at 12.25. You will need to change at Lanyon Place, and take the 13.42 or 14.12 Bangor bound train.
– There is limited seating and shelter at Tillysburn Park, so please prepare for the weather conditions.
– There is a small bar inside the main building at Tillysburn Park.
Alternatively, if you’d like to make a day of it, Larne Football Club has been advised that the Westbourne Glentoran Supporters Club, on the Newtownards Road, have generously extended an invitation to all Larne supporters for refreshments before and after the game.
Above all else, please give Tiernan Lynch’s men your best support as they give their best to achieve a major milestone for our club.
