The 2025 SuperCupNI came to a close on Friday afternoon, with Larne academy players involved in two cup winning sides across the week.

First, the Larne U15 Girls were crowned Globe Cup champions with a dramatic comeback victory over Kilmarnock, before academy players Matthew Allen and Jack Leighton were involved in County Antrim’s SuperCupNI win.

Meanwhile, ten more academy players were involved as County Down suffered a narrow 1-0 loss against Manchester United and the County Antrim Premier side suffered a Bowl Final defeat against Armagh.

On Thursday afternoon, the Larne U15 Girls overturned a three-goal deficit to beat Kilmarnock in the Globe Cup Final.

It was the Scots who came flying out of the blocks, rushing to a 3-0 lead which they took into the half-time break.

However, with the game seemingly all but lost, the young Inver Reds produced an incredible second half comeback to win the game.

Four goals from Aoife Conlon (2), Luci Brownlee and Lara Longridge turned the game on its head and produced an incredible comeback victory to lift the Globe Cup.

There was yet more silverware for Larne Academy players as both Matthew Allen and Jack Leighton played key roles in County Antrim’s SuperCupNI success.

Having finished top of a group containing County Londonderry, Charlton Athletic and Tottenham Hotspur, the side then dispatched of St Patrick’s Athletic with a 3-0 semi-final victory on Thursday.

Their win set up a final clash against County Armagh at the Coleraine Showgrounds, where it was Antrim who came out on top with a narrow 2-1 victory on Friday afternoon.

In the Premier section of the competition, Larne’s Jack May added two more goals to his tally, firing his side to the Bowl Final with a 3-1 victory over Fermanagh.

The strikes brought his total to four goals, having netted against both Southampton and Ichifuna in the group stages.

Unfortunately, his side were unable to get over the finish line in yesterday’s final as they were on the wrong end of the 3-2 scoreline against Armagh.

Meanwhile, Daniel Hashim and Fintan McArdle were both involved as County Down suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester United in Thursday’s SuperCupNI Semi-Final tie.
