Larne made their exit from the BetMcLean Cup at the quarter-final stage on Tuesday after a penalty shoot-out defeat against Linfield at Inver Park.
A fairly uneventful 90 minutes brought about a 0-0 draw before the game burst into life in extra-time, during which Kyle McClean was sent off for the visitors.
Euan East gave Linfield the lead, before two quickfire goals from Lee Bonis and Leroy Millar put Larne in front for the first time. However, Linfield fought to ensure the game went to penalties through teenager Braiden Graham to make it 2-2.
Many of Linfield’s youngsters then stepped up to ensure it they won 3-2 on penalties as the temperatures plummet late into the night.
