We are delighted to announce the signing of defender Shaun Want, subject to International Clearance, following his departure from Hamilton Accies.
The 25-year-old joined Accies as a 10-year-old, working his way up to first level at New Douglas Park, making a total of 68 appearances in the Scottish Premiership and Championship.
After recovering from an injury, Shaun spent the second half of last season on loan at League One side Peterhead, before returning to Accies and coming up against Larne in June’s pre-season friendly between the two sides in South Lanarkshire.
The 6’2 defender now arrives at Inver Park on a permanent basis and is eager to get started.
“It’s an opportunity I first heard about it about last and I wanted to get it done as quickly as I could,” he said.
“I would describe myself as an out and out defender who wants to keep clean sheets and I would do anything for that.
“It’s been a great first day at the club. I got a flight this morning and it was straight to the training ground.
“I know a few of the lads but everyone has really welcomed me. It’s been a breath of fresh air.”
Boss Tiernan Lynch is delighted to bring Shaun to the club, ahead of the transfer window closing later this week.
“Having seen Kofi Balmer move to Crystal Palace this summer we were clearly keen to strengthen our squad with a quality central defender,” he said.
“We feel Shaun gives us that and we are delighted to bring him to the club. Shaun’s desire to come here and play was also a big factor and we look forward to helping him progress with us.
“He’s been in a full-time environment for his entire career and was keen to continue that at Inver Park. We’re looking forward to seeing him get started.”
You can hear Shaun’s first interview with club through our official YouTube channel later this evening.
