LARNE Ladies Olympic continued their league campaign as they recorded a 2-1 win at home to Carnmoney Ladies.

The start of the game went the way of Carnmoney, taking the game to Larne at every opportunity. The visitors kept pushing throughout the early minutes of the game and won a succession of corners, with one of them resulting in them taking the lead. A well-worked routine saw the ball hit the back of the net, nothing short of what they deserved after the opening minutes.

Larne started to find a way into the game, with both teams now pressing for a goal. It was Larne who managed to find a goal, making the most of a corner, as Julie Haggan rifled a shot from the edge of the box into the net after Carnmoney failed to clear the ball.

Approaching half-time, Larne were now on top after getting the equaliser and they very nearly went into the lead when a great outside of the boot pass from Courtney Watson found Laura Noble, and her finish beat the Carnmoney ;keeper but not the post as it bounced back out and was eventually cleared.

Half-time: Larne Ladies Olympic 1-1 Carnmoney Ladies

Carnmoney started the second half on the front foot and were looking dangerous from set-pieces. Not long into the second half, Larne lost their captain, Paula Mitchell, after she had to be taken off through injury. It took a while for Larne to get into the game in the second half but as the game wore on, they looked the team more likely to find a winner.

Larne had a great chance to take the lead as they won a penalty after great build-up play found Laura Noble in the box who was fouled before she could get a shot away. Larne were unable to make the most of the chance, with penalty sailing just wide of the post.

With fifteen minutes left, the game opened up as both teams searched for the winner and created good chances. Larne managed to make the most of their opportunities, getting the goal to put them into the lead. Jodi McCourt did well to get down the line and her cross found Toni Millar unmarked at the back post, who calmly finished to seal the 2-1 victory.
