We are pleased to announce Olivia Canavan as the latest signing, joining from Glentoran.

The 17 year-old has impressed with her ability to play in both a right back position as well as being a reliable centre-back.

At 16, Canavan had collected her first Mary Peters Trust funding award which has assisted her in pursuing her passion for football and overcoming challenges that come with her diagnosis of Congenital Stationary Night Blindness (CSNB).

Canavan had joined Bangor FC when she was 15, spending two seasons here before joining Glentoran in 2022 and has worked alongside the senior squad as well as playing for their U17, U18 and U19 teams. The defender has also represented Northern Ireland at U17 level, in which she was selected and played during the U17 Euro qualifiers.

Discussing her move, Canavan said:

“I’m really happy about signing for Larne and I know that the girls and staff will push me to help me develop and become a stronger player. With my experience so far, and the work I am going to be putting in, I am hoping to get as much game time as I can and be part of the manager’s plans.”

William Noble added:

“Canavan is a really exciting signing for us. Her determination to overcome barriers and her hunger for more is what we want here. She is a great inspiration for our players, both older and younger and we know the future is bright for Olivia.

“We are building for the future, and our goal is to assist with the learning and development of our players and I think this is a great environment for Olivia to be. I am sure with the facilities, the delivery of professionalism and the staff, that Olivia will develop quickly and be part of our future plans.”
