O’Connor on target in Solitude draw

TIARNAN O’Connor scored a spectacular opener as Larne got their first point on the board with a draw away to Cliftonville.

It could have been even better for the Invermen, however, as Benji Magee saw his late penalty saved.

O’Connor opened the scoring three minutes before half-time, firing past PJ Morrison from just outside the box, but the home side were level early in the second half, thanks to Joe Gormley.

Larne had the chance to win it in the final 10 minutes when Magee was felled inside the box, in a incident which saw Micheal Glynn sent off. However, Magee saw his spot kick saved by Morrison.

Dan Bent was sent off in stoppage time, after picking up his second yellow card as the game finished 10 players apiece.
