TIARNAN O’Connor came off the bench to score two goals which booked Larne’s place in the quarter-finals of the BetMcLeean Cup.

With the game scoreless after an hour the striker scored a well-placed header from Conor McKendry’s cross seven minutes after coming on. He then scored what turned out to be the winner late on, curling into the top corner after cutting in from the left flank.

Ben Arthurs reduced the arrears with three minutes left, but Larne did enough to seal the win in the end.

Next up for Gary Haveron’s side is Friday night’s Sports Direct Premiership encounter at home to Portadown.
