My Dream Team: Mark Randall

Next to be tasked with picking their ‘Dream XI’ of team mates past and present is our central midfielder, Mark Randall.

Mark began his career under Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, before having spells at Burnley, MK Dons and Rotherham United amongst other English clubs. Below is his star-studded ‘Dream XI’.

FORMATION: 4-3-3

GOALKEPER: WOJCIECH SZCZESNY (Arsenal)

Wojciech and I came through the youth teams together at Arsenal and he was everything you want in a modern goalkeeper – very good with his feet and a fantastic shot stopper.

RIGHT BACK: GEORGE BALDOCK (MK Dons)

George was a machine at full back! He has a superb engine and never stopped running up and down the right side during our time at MK. He is now doing really well with Sheffield United in the Premier League and deserves all the success coming his way.

CENTRE BACK: WILLIAM GALLAS (Arsenal)

As a youngster coming through the ranks at Arsenal it was incredible to be able to train and learn from players like William. He was great at interacting with the youth players and a real leader on the pitch.

CENTRE BACK: LIAM COOPER (Chesterfield)

Liam is currently doing really well at the top of the Championship with Leeds United. When we played together at Chesterfield, I remember him as being so comfortable on the ball with a great left foot. An all-round brilliant defender.

LEFT BACK: KIERAN GIBBS (Arsenal)

Kieran was one of my best friends at Arsenal and has gone on to have a great career. He was a very good player technically and had strong physical attributes.

CENTRE MIDFIELDER: CESC FABREGAS (Arsenal)

An amazing player! From a young age everyone knew he would go on to be a massive player and he has proved us all right by winning almost every trophy in the game.

CENTRE MIDFIELDER: JACK WILSHERE (Arsenal)

Jack was technically the best player I’ve played with! An unbelievable talent who went onto play over 100 games for Arsenal and still remains in the Premier League, now with West Ham.

CENTRE MIDFIELDER: DELE ALLI (MK Dons)

Dele was in his younger years when we played together at MK Dons and his talent was there for all to see. A great athlete and a very good player who has gone on to be an England regular with much more to come!

STRIKER: ANDY COLE (Burnley)

Albeit I only played with him for a few months while he was coming to the end of his career, Andy’s finishing in front of goal was up there with the best I’ve seen. Even at that stage of his career he was still unbelievable and used his experience as an advantage on the pitch.

STRIKER: DANIEL STURRIDGE (England)

We played together in the England youth set up but even then, he was on a different level to the rest of us. Another player who was technically so good, I used to love watching him in training and matches.

STRIKER: BENIK AFOBE (Arsenal)

Benik is a great lad and a very good player. His power and pace is unstoppable as we have seen so many times in the Premier League for various clubs. He now plays in the Championship for Bristol City.
