We are very pleased to announce Michael O’Boyle has returned to the club as our new Head of Medical Services.
Michael, who was previously at the club from 2019 until the summer of 2022 as Head Sports Therapist, has returned to work at Inver Park on a full-time basis with a responsibility to oversee the health and well-being of the players at the club
In his new role, Michael will work closely with the performance department to maintain a healthy squad and reduce the risk of our players sustaining injuries.
Michael is delighted to be returning to the club, after less than 12 months away. He said: “In football we cannot completely avoid injuries and when we do pick up injuries it is my responsibility to return those players back to competition efficiently and effectively.
“I am honoured to be back at the club, although it was only a short absence in the end.
“For a number of reasons I probably needed a break from the gruelling football schedule and trying to keep a number of plates spinning. With the recent success the club has heavily invested in both the performance and medical department and this will allow me to work as part of a team to improve the physical performance of our athletes.
“Since I have come back, it has felt like I’ve never been away in the best possible sense. There is a great squad of players and staff around the club and I didn’t realise how much I missed it until I walked back through the doors at the Larne Academy Of Sport. I have a new lease of life and I am really looking forward to the season ahead.”
Manager Tiernan Lynch is also delighted to welcome Michael back to the club.
“Mick is someone we worked closely with for the three years he was here previously and we’re delighted when the opportunity came up for him to return,” he said.
“He is outstanding in what he does and works to the highest professional level. Signing players is always important at this time of the year, but having the right support structure behind them makes all the difference.
“Mick’s return is a great boost to us as we continue our work for European football and preparations for the domestic season ahead.”
