We are delighted to announce ‘Matchday Matters’, a brand-new community initiative alongside our Platinum Partners at P&O Ferries.
With an ongoing cost of living crisis and a tough operating environment for many businesses and organisations, Larne Football Club and P&O Ferries want to help those within our town and wider community.
Matchday Matters is an initiative that will help to support charities, organisations and concerns within the Larne area, aiming to bring support to the heart of our community.
Each season, up to four of our home matches at Inver Park will be selected as dedicated Matchday Matters fixtures.
Ahead of each dedicated fixture, a form will be available for supporters to complete, allowing them to nominate a charity, organisation or concern that the dedicated fixture will support. The winner will be chosen in partnership between ourselves and P&O Ferries.
The club’s media team, along with first-team players and staff, will visit the winner’s premises, finding out more about what they do and showcasing that to our audience across our social media channels.
On the matchday itself, the Matchday Matters partner will be invited to Inver Park and situated in the Genovate Premium Lounge, while they will also have the opportunity to fundraise at the match and spread further awareness of their charity or organisation with our fanbase.
As part of the initiative, P&O Ferries have also agreed to donate 5% of the total ticket revenue for the fixture to the chosen Matchday Matters partner.
Overall, Larne Football Club and P&O Ferries are working together to help support the charities, organisations and concerns that matter to you and our town.
Speaking on the launch of the Matchday Matters initiative, Marketing Lead Dean Houston said:
“It’s fantastic to be working more closely with our partners at P&O Ferries and to come together for what I feel will be a really impactful and important initiative.
“Both ourselves and P&O Ferries are committed to using our brand and platforms to really help drive change and support those who need it most close to home, whether that’s a charity, an organisation or even a school or community initiative that’s lacking funding or a platform.
“Ourselves and P&O would really love to see supporters buy-in to the initiative and help us create a long, lasting impact to the town and the people of Larne.”
Touching on what made them get involved and the potential of the Matchday Matters initiative, Laura Gilmour at P&O Ferries said:
“At P&O Ferries, we’re proud to deepen our partnership with Larne Football Club through an initiative that puts community at its heart. Matchday Matters allows us to highlight the incredible work happening across Larne—whether that’s a local charity, grassroots organisation, school or a group supporting those most in need.
“We know how important it is to give back to the places we serve, and this initiative creates a meaningful way to do exactly that. By working together, we hope to provide both practical support and a platform to help raise awareness for the causes making a real difference in people’s lives.”
