The Opposition
Glenavon currently sit 8th in the table and have two wins in their last five games. They come into Saturday’s game after a positive result against title-chasing Coleraine on Tuesday night, holding the Bannsiders to a 1-1 draw at Mourneview Park.
The Inver Reds
Following Tuesday’s games, the Invermen slipped to fourth in the table just a point behind Glentoran in third. Last Saturday’s draw with Cliftonville meant four games unbeaten for Tiernan Lynch’s side and they will be looking to build on this ahead of Saturday’s trip to Lurgan. Fuad Sule will remain side-lined due to suspension whilst the rest of the squad should remain in contention.
Last Time Out
Larne collected three points the last time these two sides met back in February at Mourneview Park. An excellent strike by Lee Lynch saw Larne take the lead midway through the first half before Glenavon were awarded a penalty five minutes later which was dispatched by Michael O’Connor, ensuring the teams went in level at the break. However, an excellent second half performance saw the Inver Reds coming home with all three points after goals from Jeff Hughes, Ronan Hale and Andrew Mitchell meant Larne ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.
