Match Report

Derry City Women picked up a third win on the bounce with victory over Larne Women at Inver Park.

After recent good form, the Candystripes came to Inver with a point to prove, as the bottom of the table heats up in the last games of the season.

From the get-go Derry were evenly matched with Larne muscling players each way, but neither side getting anything to show for it.

Abby Alexander opened the scoring for Derry with a goal coming in the 22nd minute with the visitors further causing headaches for Larne.

Ellie Redden made her presence known to Kate Smith with some long-range shots, but it was Larne who would go on to equalise with a well taken corner by Bernadette Ferreira levelling the scoreline going into half-time.

Into the second half, the match picked up with plenty of chances as either side, as both piled on the pressure with cards being given to both Hollie Johnston and the City bench.

In the closing minutes of the match Derry was giving it all they had, pestering the Larne defence and then finally in the 92nd minute taking the lead with a goal by Laura Connolly.
