Match Report

The Inver Women snatched a late minute winner in the last breath of the game by a cross at close range to seal their first top-flight win. A match chalked filled with goals with the home side keeping most of the possession.

Captain Katherine Haveron took the lead in the 28th minute to connect with a corner. Quickly Derry responded with a goal by Ellie Redden who got the better of Larne’s Kate Smith in nets, to level the scoreline.

Larne retook the lead before half-time with a rocketing shot over the opposition into the far corner by Leah Wilgaus.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Derry’s Ellie Redden secured her second of the night with a long shot into the right-hand side of the Larne net.
Derry controlled most of the ball for the second half but in the dying second of the game, Hollie Johnston sealed the win with a cross and tap-in into the Derry City net.

This leaves Larne with their first ever win in the top-flight. After a tough run of games against top opposition, the Inver Women now face Mid-Ulster Ladies on 9th June (7:45pm) back at Inver Park.
