Match Report

Glentoran continued their good start to the season as they beat Larne 7-0 away at Inver Park.

Russell Bowers side showed their ability from the start with their first big chance in the game coming after just seven minutes when Chloe McCarron saw her effort saved by goalkeeper Kate Smith.

It didn’t take long for the Glens to get their opening goal as Joely Andrews got on the end of a well-worked move to make it 1-0.

Just five minutes later it was two as Kerry Beattie doubled her side’s advantage as Glentoran took firm control of the game.

They continued to pile the pressure on the home defence throughout the first half but some strong defending and heroic goalkeeping from Kate Smith kept the visitors at bay.

That was until the closing stages of the half as a three-minute double from Kerry Beattie and Nadene Caldwell made it 4-0 as the sides went into the break.

The visitors continued their strong performance into the second half, and it took just five minutes for them to add another goal as Caragh Hamilton’s effort was too strong for Smith.

Despite trailing the Inver Reds continued to battle in defence with the defence putting in some impressive blocks.

However, Glentoran proved too strong for their hosts and added two more goals from Caldwell and Hamilton to make it 7-0 as it finished.
