With RFS claiming a 3-0 victory in the first leg of the tie out in Riga last week, Tiernan Lynch’s side know they have it all to do at Inver Park tonight if they want to continue in the UEFA Champions League.
Mark Randall returns from suspension after missing last week’s first leg of the tie while it remains to be seen if Shaun Want will be fit enough to feature after recent injury struggles.
Baris Altintop made his competitive debut for the club in last week’s first leg of the tie, while Matty Lusty, fresh from a new contract extension, featured from the bench after spending last season out on loan.
RFS showed in last week’s game the quality that they possess throughout the team, with the Latvian champions particularly impressive at going forward with Emerson and Diomande playing key roles.
With Inver Park veering on being sold out for tonight’s second leg, it remains to be seen if a large vocal backing is what Tiernan Lynch’s side require to bring them back into the tie as they attempt to cut the deficit from last week’s defeat in Riga.
The winners of tonight’s tie will progress to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League where they will face Norwegian champions FK Bodø/Glimt. The losers of tonight’s tie will drop into the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League after being drawn as one of the ‘lucky losers’ to receive a bye in the second qualifying round of the competition.
