It’s Action Mental Health Charity Shield action tonight at Inver Park as Tiernan Lynch’s side welcome Cliftonville in what marks the first competitive action of the season. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
Tonight’s game marks the first chance to get honours on the boar for the 2024/25 campaign and both Tiernan Lynch and Jim Magilton will be keen ensure that tonight provides the perfect preparation for both sides upcoming European fixtures.
With the UEFA Champions League tie against RFS on the horizon, Tiernan Lynch’s side come into the game off the back of two friendlies in recent weeks. The Invermen drew 1-1 with Stranraer before beating CYMRU Premier side Bala Town 2-1 at Inver Park last Saturday.
Matthew Lusty, Oisin Devlin and Sean Brown have all returned to the first-team squad during pre-season after spending the 2023/24 campaign out on loan. Tiernan Lynch has also boosted his squad with three new signings in the summer window, with Conor McKendry returning to the club while Baris Altintop and Dylan Graham have provided reinforcements in the squad. Both Baris Altintop and Dylan Graham will be eligible for selection tonight after receiving international clearance.
Cliftonville have also been in action as they prepare for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League. Jim Magilton’s men have tested themselves against CYMRU Premier opposition in recent weeks, losing 5-1 to The New Saints and 2-1 to Caernarfon Town.
Ben Wilson, Stephen Mallon, Sam Ashford, Chris Curran and Nathan Gartside have all departed the club after playing a role in their Irish Cup success last season, while Jim Magilton has bolstered his ranks with the additions of Michael Newberry, Sean Stewart, Luke Conlan and Shaun Leppard in recent weeks.

Prices have been set at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions with all monies raised from the game going to the official charity partner, Action Mental Health.
A cash gate will also be available to both home and away supporters at the stadium tonight. As normal, away supporters will be housed in the Larne Port and P&O Ferries McKay Stand.
Tonight’s game will also be streamed live on the NI Football League YouTube channel for those who can’t make it to Inver Park.
