The Inver Women head on the road at the weekend for the first time in this season’s Sports Direct Women’s Premiership, taking on Cliftonville Ladies at Solitude on Sunday, kick-off 3pm.
Donald Malomo-Paris’ side head into Sunday’s fixture searching for their first points of the campaign against what will be tricky opposition in Cliftonville, who finished second in last year’s overall standings.
The Inver Reds will be buoyed by a strong performance against Lisburn Ladies on the opening day of the season, which accompanied another battling display against Lisburn Rangers in the ToalsBet.Com Women’s Cup just over one week later.
Summer signings Kate Nicolson, Maddie Brant, Stacey Qosja and Melissa Storey are set to be available for selection for the game and could be in line to make their Larne debuts if selected on Sunday afternoon.
Despite heading into the game as underdogs, the Inver Women will be keen to build on recent performances which have boasted positive foundations for the rest of the season. Bolstered by four new signings, coaches will no doubt want to see more positivity against opposition full of senior internationals and league winners.
At the time of writing, Cliftonville sit at the top of the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership on six points after two games played, scoring ten goals without conceding. The North Belfast side defeated Mid Ulster Ladies 5-0 on the opening day, before returning the same scoreline against Derry City on gameweek two.
Defeating Cork City 3-1 in the Avenir Sports All-Island Cup in their last outing, the Cliftonville side for that game boasted over 120 senior international caps amongst their starting eleven.
John McGrady’s side have also been boosted by the re-signing of forward Danielle Maxwell, who returns to Solitude following a season with Blackburn Rovers in the Women’s Championship and has scored two goals in as many league games to date.
Supporters can gain entry into Sunday’s game via a pay-at-the-gate system. Entry will cost £4 for adults and £1 for concessions.
