Anyone who has been fortunate enough to be at Inver Park since the return of fans in May will have noticed a new addition to the team – Lenny the Lion!

Lenny is the club’s new official mascot, having been designed by the winner of our competition St Anthony’s pupil, Corin Shaw.

We launched our ‘Design a Mascot’ competition in December 2019, involving P5 – P7 pupils from across 14 local primary schools.

Dozens upon dozens of pupils put their creative skills to the test before submitting their final designs to the club for a final decision to be made, with Corin’s effort being chosen by our panel.

While the process of bring Lenny from design to life was delayed a little due to Covid restrictions, we were delighted to see him making his debut at Inver Park when we took on Glentoran just over a week ago.

He was back in action last Saturday again, helping to lead the team out with Corin also on the pitch as our special guest.

Coming up with the concept of Lenny, Corin said: “I chose a lion, because they are loyal to their pack in the same way Larne fans are to their team.

“I made my lion strong, because Larne are a strong team and I enjoy watching them most weeks.”

And so Lenny was born!

We can’t wait for him to be on hand to lead out the team in our next big game, as we welcome Cliftonville to Inver Park on Saturday, in the UEFA Conference League play-off final.

If you are one of the fans at Inver Park on Saturday, make sure to give him a wave and maybe stop for a photograph.

We can’t wait to introduce him to even more of our fans on matchday from next season.
