2012s

Larne v Ballykeel

It was a tough game for the 2012 girls against a fast and aggressive Ballykeel boys team. The girls enjoyed a good ten-minute spell and were all over the opposition. However, they leaked a few goals due to lapses in concentration and some long shots.

The second half was better as the girls were faster and stronger on the ball. There was a positive play from the defence and in the attacking third. They know that they could have held their own a bit better with more aggression and concentration.

Larne v Glen United

There were exciting passages of play and good creativity throughout from the girls. Their interplay in the final third created good chances and they were able to produce efforts on goal. Without some great saves from the opposing keeper, the scoreline could have been so much different.

There is a noticeable improvement amongst the squad and their understanding of the game. Their confidence is growing along with their willingness to take players on.

Under 9s

Larne v Carnmoney

It was a mixed bag from the under 9 girls against Carnmoney. Whether it was the weather or the late start to the game, Carnmoney just had the rub of the green.

However, the girls eventually found their form and clicked into gear. They displayed all that they’ve learned throughout the year, defending hard, looking for space and making runs. There was very positive attacking play. Mia scored a hat trick and Ruby was a rock in defence.

Larne 6-3 Carrick Girls

This was a great performance right from the off for Larne. They went straight on the attack and hit the post early on. Carrick scored against the run of play but Larne responded. Sophia was a constant threat down the right-wing and put in some great crosses. With all the pressure and good football, the girls soon found themselves in the lead with 2 goals straight after each other from Sophia and Holly. Unfortunately, Carrick equalised just before halftime with a deflected goal. Eryn marshalled the Larne defence well and 2 great performances from the two Evas in defence.

Larne took control in the second half, 4 goals came from Amber, 2 from Ellie, and one for Sophia. The girls worked tirelessly and deserved the win.

Player of the week- Ellie

Under 11s

Larne girls started the 1st half very fast and had 5 or 6 chances to score and couldn’t find a way past the Crusaders’ goalkeeper.

Crusaders scored 3 quick goals in 10 minutes as the Larne girls dropped their heads a bit after not converting their chances.

The girls in the second half made more tackles and got stuck in and it paid off when Lisa Norris scored the first goal followed by Sophie Aiston and Eva McKee to complete a great comeback. In the last kick of the game, Sophie hit to post to nearly winning the game 4-3. Very proud of the girls to bring it back to 3 each.

The Larne girls showed great spirit to come back in the second half and get something from the game.

Player of the Match-Lisa Norris
