Larne Youth Girls Round-up: Friday 11th March 2022

Larne 1-2 Castlewellan Town

The girls will feel this is a game they could have won but unfortunately they missed a few chances. The only Larne goal was scored by Alix Wilson. Despite the result, it was a strong performance on a far from the ideal playing surface. There are plenty of encouraging signs to build on.

Player of the match- Mia O’Flaherty

Larne 2012 Girls v Barn 2012 Girls

This was a massive improvement from the 2012 girls in an evenly contested match. They were structured and passed and moved well, putting some great moves together. Mia and Jodie scored a couple of late goals at the end of the first session. The contest was very close and competitive with Larne rising to the challenge of the physically imposing Barn side. They fought hard as a team and dug in to defeat a strong opponent.

Larne U11 Developmental v Barn

The girls performed well in the first half with some good passages of play. Their good form saw them take the lead in the first half but the opposition eventually grew into the game and was allowed to get more shots away. Larne’s keeper also made some excellent saves throughout the game.

Larne 6-1 Comber Rec

This was a much-improved performance last week with goals from Mia Snoddy, Hawkins and McCourt. Morgan Beattie scored but also picked up an injury in the impressive victory.

Larne U9s v Crusaders U9s

The girls continued their good momentum by holding their own against a physical Crusaders side. The girls played the ball wide into space which they had been coached during the week. The game was evenly balanced with strong defensive work and great forward play. Mia scored a brilliant goal and the Crusaders keeper was forced to make some brilliant saves.

Player of the match- Anna McAleese

Larne U12s v Rosario U12s

The work rate from the girls was fantastic and they never stopped the whole game despite being half the size of the opposition. Due to some absences, it was a makeshift team but they produced a sterling performance despite the circumstances. There are a lot of positives to take from the game that can be built on for the future.

Player of the match- Lisa Norris

Larne U11s 4-0 Ballyclare U11s

This was a very strong performance from the girls after a sluggish first 10 minutes. However, they soon found their rhythm and passed brilliantly while controlling possession. Sofia Hammill scored two great goals whereas Holly McKeen and Luci Brownlee were also on the scoresheet. The team are starting to gel and the future bodes well for them.

The girls moved the ball well from the start and attacked from the first whistle. The team performed well as a unit, dominating the play and controlling the game. A few different girls went into goal and they all made some fantastic saves.
