Larne 2012s v Barn

Larne faced Barn on a rainy Friday night and it took a while for the girls to get going. They stood off from tackles and gave the opponents too much time on the ball. Erin performed well in goal, making several important saves.  There was a marked improvement in the second session with plenty of shots at the Barn keeper. However, their keeper was also in form and was alive to many of Larne’s efforts.

Players of the match- India Wilson and Erin Hughes

Larne U11s v Bloomfield

This was not the best of days for Larne largely due to a depleted squad. They were short of 3 players which had a significant impact on the game. Bloomfield was quicker to the ball and their keeper was in great form. The Bloomfield keeper’s kicking ability also caused a number of issues for the Larne defence.

Larne 2013s v Ballyclare

This was a brilliant game of football on a very hot morning. The first period was evenly matched with both teams seeing plenty of the ball. Larne got stuck in against a strong Ballyclare team who were physically bigger. Ballyclare had the better of the second third, they were allowed to pass the ball at will which Larne paid the price for. There was some improvement in the final third as they began closing down and chasing the ball. Annie scored late on with a fine strike.

Larne U11s v Ballymena

This was a tough game against Ballymena on Friday night. Larne made space when they had the ball and were composed with their passing. However, the girls struggled with the balls that were being put in by the opposition. There are lots of positives to take away and the team were happy after the game.

Player of the match- Jodie Marcus

Larne 2013s v Cliftonville

The girls put in an excellent shift on a sunny morning. They came out of the blocks quickly and were impressed with their pressing game. They did not allow Cliftonville time on the ball and scored twice in the opening third. The second third began with the same high level of intensity. Their defensive shape and awareness off the ball were impeccable. Everything they learned in training seemed to click on the day and the final third was more of the same.

Larne 2012s v St. Matthew’s

This was a great performance from the girls, the first third was evenly matched with positive attacking play from both teams. Mia made a fantastic clearance and followed it up with a screamer. Roxy also tipped a brilliant strike onto the bar. There was an unfortunate defensive lapse that allowed St. Matthew’s to score.

However, after conceding the girls kicked into action once more. Larne dominated the attack and created numerous chances in the last 10-12 minutes. Roxy scored two more great goals and could have had more.

Lisburn League

Larne 3-0 Santos FC

This was a solid performance from the girls who came out of the blocks quickly and were 3-0 up after 15 minutes. There were two well-taken goals from Alix Wilson and a cool finish from Cara Noble after a fantastic team move. The girls stayed in control for the remainder of the game but a combination of missed chances and good goalkeeping from Santos prevented them from adding to the tally.
