Under 7s

The under 7s had another great match against Cliftonville in the development league. It was a comfortable win conceding only a  couple of goals and scoring many more. They showed great positional awareness for their age. They passed and moved well as a unit.

Player of the Week nomination:
Anna McWhirter

Under 9s

Larne – Glens United

The under 9 girls were playing against a boys’ team for the first time this season and it was a game of two halves. Glens had the early running and raced into an early lead. However, as time went on the girls grew in confidence. Jodie was rewarded with a great goal which she whipped past the keeper. Glens found another goal shortly after.
The second half was a totally different story. Bailey and Bella worked well upfront and their passing partnership led to a goal. Bella twice followed up on a rebound to find the net. A late Glens goal on the break saw the match ending in their favour. However, Larne can be proud that it was level for the second half. The girls played some good football after an initial false start.
Bella was the player of the match and was praised by the Glens coach for her fantastic work rate and goal attempts.

Player of the Week nominations:
Bailey Savage
Bella McCambridge

Under 9s

The U9s girls played a strong Linfield girls team today on the grass pitches at the Valley. Despite narrowly losing each of the three sessions, they built on their game each time and took on one point to improve after each third, which all of them did successfully. The girls are really growing in-game awareness with each match, and there was some great forward running and passing.

Jodie’s awareness to get into space up front got her a well-earned goal. Some strong running, good ball skills, and tenacity got Roxy another two goals to add to her impressive tally so far. Good shifts from Orla, Mia, and Roxy in nets, and great improvements from everyone outfield in-game awareness, passing, and getting into space.

Player of the Week nomination:
Roxy Robb

2012/13 team

Larne – Carniny Youth

This Larne team was a mix of players that are not used to playing together but they adapted well. Their passing in all areas of the pitch was great. The brilliant team performance was topped off with goals from Amber O’Toole and Gracie Hodge. Special mention to Jodie Marcus who played goalkeeper and made some great saves.

Larne U10’s  –  Larne U11’s

A great game to watch! The U10’s had a great first half, pressing well and putting some good passes together, making use of the space out wide. The under 10s came close to scoring on a couple of occasions with Amber O’Toole almost finding the net. It was level at halftime.

The second half saw the u10s start well and score in the opening minutes through Holly McKeen. The U11’s found a stride and were rewarded with a good goal. A second follow quickly for the U11’s and they grabbed the victory.

Player of the Week nominations:

Holly McKeen -Holly was picked as the player of the match. She battled throughout and never gave up when chasing back to try and win the ball. She was rewarded for this impressive work rate with a goal.

Scarlett Smith – CM had a great performance, she closed the opposition down well and gave them little opportunity to build momentum. Confident and composed on the ball she was a real difference-maker.

Under 12s

Larne 3-1 Grove United

Larne started slowly after the physically bigger Grove United team found themselves 1-0 up at halftime. After a rousing halftime team talk, the girls started the 2nd half with more control and aggression. Sophie Jenkins scored a second-half hat-trick and the Larne girls could have had more if the Grove keeper hadn’t pulled off some good saves with Katie Monaghan coming close.

Larne continued to dominate and the stand-in keeper from the under 13s did not have anything to. The defense of Jodie Ferguson and Clare McAleese kept the Grove attackers at bay.

Larne – Barn Youth

This exciting match started off with a flurry of goals and it was level at the interval. In the second half Larne found another four goals which proved enough for the win. Mia Caerys and Isabella McCurry were amongst the goals. It was a dramatic match that the girls battled very hard in.

Player of the Week:

Isabella McCurry- She never stopped the whole match, scored most of the goals, and defended well when Barn was on the attack. The girls battled hard in a dramatic match.

Under 13s
Larne 4-1 St. Oliver Plunkett’s FC

Fantastic performance from the under 13 girls. They dominated from the first whistle and never lost control of the game. It was a really polished all-around team performance. The team has been working on through balls at training and today it just clicked.

Goals from Rebecca Hawkins, Eimear Ward (a great header), Sophia Manning, and Mia O’Flaherty rounded off the scoring. If it wasn’t for an inspired performance by their goalkeeper they could have scored more. They are developing into a strong team. Their game management and technical ability just get better and better.

Player of the Week Nominations:
Anna Clark – Mid
Eimear Ward – Mid
Rebecca Hawkins – Mid

Under 16s

Larne 3-0 Rosario

The under 16s produced a good performance on a hot and humid day against Rosario. They were always in control bar a few mistakes whilst in possession. A great result and a clean sheet to go along with it. Goals from Montana, Fran, and Rachel secured the points.

Larne Girls 2-1 Larne Girl Colts

It was a great game of football. It was an end-to-end match with great attacking and defending from both sides. It was surprising to still be 0-0 at half-time. The colts started strongly in the second half and put Larne girls under serious pressure. They were rewarded for their tenacity through a goal from Holly McKeen. This woke the Larne girls up who started to push more for an equaliser.

The Colts keeper Macy Brennan made some excellent saves. Eventually, Larne girls got their equaliser through Sophie Aiston with a strike from distance. This was followed up by another from distance. The Larne girl colts pushed for an equaliser but were unfortunate not to get one as time ran out. Great performance from both teams and all the coaches were proud of them both. The Player of the match for the Larne girls was the new player Isla Taylor.
