Under 11’s

Larne 2-2 St. Mary’s (Friendly)

This was a tight competitive match that Larne was unfortunate not to win. The girls battled all over the pitch and were rewarded for some great passing play with Holly McKeen scoring. She then bulldozed her way through the St Mary’s midfield and defence setting up Faith Topping to score the second. In the last 10 minutes their concentration dropped off and they conceded an equaliser. A special mention for Larne’s player of the match Scarlett Smith, the St Mary’s coach was impressed with her movement off the ball and her ability to read the game. She was always in the right place when defending.

Team of the week nominations:
Holly McKeen – CM
Scarlett Smith – CB

Elsewhere in the South Belfast Youth League the under 11s were defeated by Belfast Swifts. The girls put in a great shift against an older age group. The team of the week nominee was Sophie Aiston who was captain for the day and battled well in midfield.

Under 12s

Larne was defeated by Crumlin in a difficult contest. The U12’s were hindered from the off due to both goalkeepers missing the match. This meant that one of the defenders had to step into nets. That left the Larne team missing players from two crucial positions. The girls worked extremely hard and battled throughout the entire game. A few mistakes let Crumlin Girls get on the score sheet early and the Larne girls were unable to recover. Cara Noble was the goalscorer for Larne.

Under 13s

Larne 3-1 Comber Rec Ladies
Despite not producing their best performance, Larne fought hard and got the result they deserved. The win gives them plenty to build on in training with their coach in the coming weeks.
Lucy Urwin opened the scoring with a screamer from 20 yards into the top corner. Rebecca Hawkins and Alix Wilson rounded off the scoring. With better finishing, Larne could have scored even more.

South Belfast Youth League
Ballymena Utd 2 – Larne 3

Larne started off well in a very physical game against Ballymena. They took the lead scoring early on through Morgan Beattie who went one on one with the keeper and slotted it home. After the goal, the Larne girls went a bit flat and were outmuscled on the ball a lot. Ballymena got their rewards with a goal before halftime. After a rallying team talk at halftime, the Larne girls came out fighting in the second half. Some great link-up play between Morgan Beatie and Mia Snoddy split the defence and Mia put the ball by the outcoming keeper. The third goal came from a switch in play from Sophia on the left across the pitch to Riley on the right whose great vision played Jodie McCourt in to put it by the keeper. There were a few more chances that came Larne’s way but some good goalkeeping kept them out. A lapse in concentration late on let Ballymena get their second but the Larne girls did enough to secure all three points.

Team of the week nominations:
Katie Dalrymple (RB)
Mia Snoddy (Forward)
Morgan Beatie (Forward)
