Larne Youth Girls Round-up: 15th April

Larne U11/10s v North End

Plenty of goals in this tough game for the girls, as the attacking partnership of Amber and Gracie, saw them score two goals each.  The team can take many positives away from this game, as the goalkeeper Niamh and player Maci Wilson showing great improvement.

Player of the match: Chloe – even though she is new to football she has shown great tackling ability with this only her second game in the team.

Larne v Rosario

Larne struggled to keep a clean sheet in this game, with Rosario able to make runs past our defence, but the girls made a big difference in the second half with fantastic play by Ellie, who was unlucky not to get on the score sheet. Macy made some crucial saves in this game, her efforts were noticed by all the coaches involved.

Larne 2013 v Ballyclare Comrades

Ballyclare took an early lead, scoring two in the first half, but just before half-time Jessie buried a goal in the nets to make it 2-1, showing strength and skill in doing so. Determined to not to be defeated, the Larne team dominated the second half, with great corners by Charlie, and passing ability by Jessica.

Player of the Match: Jessica Spence – it was hard to make a choice, with great performances, but Jessica stood out with great technique on and off the ball

Larne 2012 v St Mary’s

The girls showed determination and will to control the game throughout, with goals from Roxy, Orla, Anna Mia and Jodie. In the second half, the girls let two goals slip past them by St Mary’s catching them off guard. Though despite the opposition showing great flare while on the ball, the defence made short work of the attack.

Player of the Match: Orla Curneen – with her great passing ability and dribbling, she was able to find space and make the best use of it.

Larne U16s v Bloomfield

In this friendly on their week off, the girls showed great attacking threat and purpose on the ball, as they were able to slot five past the defence, with goals by Mia, Katie and Morgan.

Some of the standout players on the day was Abby Quinn who was sensational on and off the ball.

Jane Hagan – showed great improvement as a tenacious leader.

Larne U11s v North Belfast

This was a game of two halves as the team dominated the first half with only a goal to show for their hard work. In the second half, the girls struggled as the defence faltered. The keeper Hallie made some good saves but it did not help the attacking ability of North Belfast.

Player of the Match: Hallie Stewart

Lisburn League

Larne Girls v Crusaders Strikers

Throughout the match, the girls gave a great performance, unlucky to go through to the final but each player played phenomenally. While they were unlucky to concede from two free-kicks in the last minutes of the game, the players showed great character, given for some of the players this is their fourth or fifth game of football.

Player of the Match: Leah Pherson – Didn’t put a wrong foot throughout the match, class performance throughout.
