LARNE recorded a 4-1 win away to Glentoran on Tuesday night against a 10-man Glentoran side.
The Invermen got the goalscoring underway after just seven minutes – by which time they had already hit the crossbar – when Paul O’Neill calmly slotted home a penalty, following the home side being penalised for handball.
Glentoran equalied 15 minutes later when defender Daniel Larmour headed home, following a long throw-in. However, they were reduced to 10 men midway through the half when Ryan Cooney saw red for a late challenge on Sean Graham.
Larne retook the lead just before half-time, thanks to a 30-yard thunderbolt from Cricky Gallagher.
The lead was added to early in the second half when Paul O’Neill got his second of the night, finishing off some fine work from strike partner Tiarnan O’Connor.
Gary Haveron’s men rounded off the goalscoring action when they pressed high up the pitch for James Simpson to slot captain Tomas Cosgrove clear and finished past Andrew Mills.
The victory moves Larne 10 points clear of the chasing pack, ahead of Friday’s game away to Linfield. Tickets for this game can be purchased HERE.
