LARNE’s 18-game unbeaten run in the Sports Direct Premiership came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Portadown on Saturday.

The Invermen began the game brightly, but spurned some good early chances and they were made to pay when Jack Scott was on hand to fire home Josh Ukek’s cross on 12 minutes.

Larne levelled shortly before the break when Leroy Millar nodded down for Andy Ryan to fire in a half volley off the post for this sixth goal since returning from injury in the new year.

However, Gary Haveron’s men would go into the half-time break trailing as Eamon Fyfe converted another Ukek cross barely a minute later.

Larne’s hopes of getting back into the game were dealt a major blow when Cricky Gallagher received his second yellow card of the game early in the second half as the home side saw out the victory.
