LARNE’S run of five consecutive County Antrim Shield finals has come to an end after losing Tuesday’s semi-final to Carrick on penalties.

Adam Lecky fired the home side ahead just after the half hour mark, while Ryan Nolan headed in a leveller nine minutes into the second.

WIth the game locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes, it was straight to penalties. Larne led the shoot-out 3-1, meaning that if we had scored either of the next two spot kicks a place in the final was confirmed.

However, we went on to miss threw in a row, allowing Jimmy Callacher to stroke home the winning penalty to send Carrick into January’s decider.

Next up for Larne is Friday’s Premiership encounter at home to Glenavon.
