Landmark Match Guide: Glentoran vs Larne

Aug 11, 2023 | First Team, Match Guide

Following a quick turnaround from our season opener at Inver Park on Monday, the Inver Reds are once again in action this evening, taking on Glentoran at The Oval.

Below is all the information our travelling support needs to know before making their way to East Belfast.

TICKETS & ENTRY

Tickets for tonight’s game remain available to purchase online. You can get yours by clicking here, with admission costing £13 for adults and £9 for concessions.

There will be no cash gate at tonight’s game – supporters are encouraged to purchase their tickets online before leaving for The Oval.

As normal, away supporters will be asked to enter at the City End Terrace, with both terracing and seated areas an option in the away end.

1889 SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB

For those wishing to enjoy a pre-match pint, 1889 Sports & Social Club will be open from 5pm ahead of the game. Our bar facilities will remain open for supporters returning from the game and will be showing the game live from 7.45pm for those unable to make their way to the Oval.

STREAMING

Tonight’s game will be shown live on BBC iPlayer. Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm and coverage will begin shortly before this time.

OUR OPPOSITION

Glentoran made a winning start their Sports Direct Premiership campaign last weekend, defeating Glenavon with 1-0 with the winning goal coming deep into injury time.

As a squad overall, Warren Feeney has had to deal with loss of Conor McMenamin this summer but has brought in the highly rated Daire O’Connor from Ayr United as a replacement. Central defender Paddy McLean has also made a return to playing in another boost for the East Belfast outfit.

Tonight’s game will be the first time that the Glens play a home fixture since their dramatic penalty shoot-out defeat at the hands of Gzira United in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

THE INVER REDS

Tiernan Lynch and his players were disappointed to lose two points from a strong position on Monday night, however players and staff have been back in and working hard to ensure they are best prepared to take all three points at The Oval.

Mark Randall and Thomas Maguire remain sidelined with injuries, while Jaziel Orozco awaits international clearance before making his debut for the Inver Reds. It is unlikely that Cian Bolger will make his return to the team as he continues to combat the groin injury he suffered against HJK last month.

UPCOMING GAMES

The games continue to come thick and fast for Tiernan Lynch’s side, who will be back in action again on Tuesday night against Ballymena United at Inver Park. Tickets for the first Shanes Hill derby of the season are now on sale, and can be purchased at larnefc.com/tickets.
