Larne Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of former midfielder Cathy Dunn, from East Belfast Ladies.

The 26-year-old returns to Larne having spent the best part of 10 years playing at one of the highest levels of women’s football in Northern Ireland.

Following a two-year stint at Larne previously, Dunn left for Championship side Carnmoney in 2013. Four years with Carnmoney followed, before Cathy moved to Championship rivals East Belfast.

Since 2017, Cathy has been a first team regular with East Belfast and was a mainstay in the team during the 2017 season, when they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League, with defeat in the play-off final.

The following season Cathy remained part of the team as they where crowned national Futsal champions.

She now returns to Larne now aged 26 and an experienced player at Championship level.

Manager William Noble has described Cathy as an exciting left-footed winger with an eye for goal and who add valuable experience to the team, and someone he hopes can be a key player as they push for promotion this season.

Cathy herself is delighted to be back at the club and has high hopes for the season ahead.

She said: “I’m very happy to be back at Larne, after close to 10 years away from the club.

“Even in the first few training sessions, the professionalism and attention to detail that goes into the training has been super impressive. I have been made to feel very welcome by all the players and staff and I am really looking forward to the season kicking off.

“Thankfully I will be a little more prepared for the fast turn around, as the coaches have been putting us through our paces with a virtual pre-season for the last number of weeks.

“From the quality and commitment I have seen thus far at training from the staff and players, I think a trophy and fight for promotion needs to be a top priority.”
