Larne Ladies narrowly lost 3-1 to Comber Rec on Sunday at Inver Park and despite a late first half goal from Kylie Doherty it wasn’t enough for them to claim their first win.

The Inver Women got us underway at a rainy Inver Park and went on the attack from the go, however it was the visitors who opened the scoring. The Comber striker scoring from range past Larne goalkeeper Glass.

Coming up on the half-time whistle the visitors grabbed two in quick succession, as the same player completed her hat-trick.  Firstly, she picked up Lyndsey Nobles clearance and composed herself before firing home to double the leaf and then was on hand to tap in to make it 3-0 shortly afterwards.

However, there was still time for Larne to regain one before the break when Cargill played through Doherty (pictured) and she calmly shot past the Comber ‘keeper.

Comber got us underway for what was set to be a tightly contested second half with both sides making changes. In the early minutes of the second half Comber goalkeeper cleared the ball as far as unmarked Georgia Crawford who’s left footed effort from range was narrowly wide of the post.

Larne substitute Laura Aiken raced through on goal, but her shot was saved by Comber keeper, who turned it on to the post and out for a corner. The corner was taken by Rebecca Boyce and cleared as far as the unmarked Georgia Crawford, who again attempted a shot from range but her shot this time was over the bar.

As the game drew to a close the Inver Women had one last chance as Jennifer Montgomery’s cross was saved by Comber keeper, this left the game ending Larne Ladies 1 Comber Rec Ladies 3.
