We are pleased to announce the arrival of Kirsty Cameron, who has joined from Newberry College for the remainder of our 2024 Sports Direct Premiership campaign.

The former Linfield, Glentoran and Crusaders Strikers midfielder is coming back to home soil after her success in the United States.

Cameron knows what it takes to win trophies having been part of the Linfield squad to win the Women’s Premiership in 2019. In the same year, Cameron was also runner-up in the 2019 Irish FA Women’s Challenge Cup.

Cameron has been capped for Northern Ireland from county level to the U19s before she made her mark in the US during her scholarship with Jones College in 2021 having started in 28 games and made an appearance in all 34 games along with having 2 goals and 4 assists.

With the Bobcats, Cameron was awarded with Distinguished Academic All-MACCC and NJCAA All-Academic first team. After three seasons with Jones in 2023, the midfielder joined Newberry Wolves, making 11 appearances before making the decision to return home to Northern Ireland.

After her time in the US, the strong midfielder is excited for a new challenge. She said:

“I am really excited to come back to Northern Ireland and play with this great squad for the remainder of the season. This is a great opportunity to play on familiar territory, bringing back skills I have developed in the US and learning from my new team and coaches.

“Having experienced the competitiveness of the US college football scene as well as being familiar with this league, I am thrilled to be joining this team and I can’t wait to help take us further up the table. It’s going to be an exciting challenge and I’m looking forward to playing at Inver Park.”

Head Coach, Phil McNamara added:

“We have been working on bringing in key players and I am delighted to have Kirsty with us to help us for the rest of the season.

“Kirsty is a great signing for the club, she has had excellent seasons already in the Premiership and really made her name known in Mississippi and South Carolina and we believe she will add quality to our squad.”

Women’s General Manager William Noble said:

“Kirsty is a fantastic addition to the team and I’m excited to see what she brings. I would expect to see some more signings over the next few days and I can’t wait for the fans to get behind them and make them feel at home here in Larne.”
