Inver Reds in the Community is officially launched

LARNE Football Club is delighted to officially announce our new ‘Inver Reds in the Community’ campaign, which will act as an umbrella for the club’s post-COVID community outreach activities going forward.

Over the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic brought the Inver Reds’ community outreach programme to near stand-still, as restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings, social bubbles and social distancing made it extremely difficult for the club to interact with the people of Larne, with whom such a strong bond had been created.

Following the easing of many of these restrictions, the Inver Reds are committed to raising the levels of community outreach – putting on more programmes, camps and appearances than ever before.

Over the past six weeks, our Community Engagement Team have launched initiatives such as Mini Soccer, After Schools Football, ‘Coffee Club’ Over 50’s Exercise & Wellbeing, ‘MEN’ United 5-a-side football and our recently announced Easter Football Camp.

Speaking on the launch of ‘Inver Reds in the Community’, recently appointed Community Engagement Officer Ryan McNickle said: “While the club’s players and staff have significantly increased our community outreach activities over the past six weeks, having everything come under the one umbrella of ‘Inver Reds in the Community’ is another positive step as we seek to engage with the people of Larne once again.

“It has been really enjoyable to be able to get out and about local schools and groups once again, and this is an area of the club which will only grow in the coming months, so the future is looking really exciting.”

General Manager Niall Curneen added: “Our community outreach programme is the heart of our club and while we did our very best to support local people during the worst of the pandemic by delivering food packages amongst other small initiatives, it is only now that we are in a position to return to schools, host events and ultimately invite a range of social groups into the facilities which we manage.

“Amongst the initial relaunch, both Ryan [McNickle] and Jeff [Hughes] have been magnificent in getting us back out there at the earliest possible opportunity and we have had nothing but glowing reports so far.

“We want Inver Park and The Cliff to be a hub for everyone in our community. Our staff will be working very hard to create new relationships to ensure both of these facilities and our club in general has something for everyone in the town.”

Our Community Engagement Team have created an online anonymous ‘idea box’ for anyone wishing to send in their ideas for new programmes to run. Click here for more.
