From Belfast to North Macedonia, six Inver Reds were competing on the international stage this past week, representing their respective countries across various age groups. Take a read at our international round-up below to find out who was playing where across the globe.
Dylan Sloan (Northern Ireland U21s)
The young midfielder was called up to Tommy Wright’s squad for their friendly against Czechia and UEFA European Championship qualifier against Serbia.
Sloan started the game against Czechia on the bench and entered the field of play on the 63rd minute to make his U21 debut for his country. With his side already 2-0 down at the point of coming on, Czechia made it 3-0 on the 78th minute to pick up the victory in the friendly.
Next up was the UEFA European Championship qualifier against Serbia yesterday. Sloan wasn’t included in the squad for the game as Northern Ireland picked up an impressive 2-1 victory to move up to fourth in their Group F standings, thanks to a winning goal by former Larne player Craig Farquhar.
Kye Livingstone (Gibraltar U21s)
Livingstone was called up to the Gibraltar U21 squad as they continued their UEFA European Championship qualifying campaign, with games against North Macedonia and Georgia.
The 21-year-old winger started both games for his country, with the team putting in competitive performances against both sides. Unable to pick up any points in the end, his side lost narrowly in both games, 1-0 versus North Macedonia and 2-0 versus Georgia.
James Simpson (Northern Ireland U17s)
Simpson was called up to the Northern Ireland U17 squad for their UEFA Euro 2024 Elite Round qualifiers against England, France and Hungary.
The 16-year-old defender started the game against a strong England side at St George’s Park and after taking an early lead, the side eventually fell to a 5-1 defeat.
Simpson started on the bench for the games against France and Hungary, and while he did not feature during the 5-2 defeat to France, the defender came on in the second half against Hungary as the side ended the international break with a 3-1 victory.
Jack Hastings, Logan Graham & Oisin Devlin (Northern Ireland U18s Schoolboys)
All three players were part of the Northern Ireland U18 Schoolboys squad as they continued their Centenary Shield campaign against Scotland.
Both Jack Hastings and Oisin Devlin, who captained the side, started the game against Scotland with Logan Graham amongst the substitutes.
The side made it three wins from three in the competition with a 2-0 victory, as Oisin Devlin got the second goal of the game.
