We are delighted to announce the signing of 24-year-old midfielder Chris Gallagher from Cliftonville.
As part of the deal, Shea Gordon will be moving in the other direction, having put pen to paper for the Solitude club.
Gallagher arrives at the club having began his professional career with EFL League One outfit Shrewsbury Town, which also included brief loan spells at Stalybridge and Stoubridge in non-league football.
He returned to Irish League football in 2018 when he signed for Glentoran and would remain at the Oval for almost three years before moving from East Belfast to North, as he signed for Cliftonville.
The former Linfield youth product has enjoyed an impressive two and a half years at Solitude, helping the club to a second place finish in his first season and also capturing the League Cup during that time.
Manager Tiernan Lynch is now delighted to add the player to his panel at Inver Park.
“We have made no secret of our desire to bring in players who will strengthen us if that becomes a possiblity,” he said.
“Chris certainly falls into that category and we are delighted to be able to bring him to the club in this window.
“There is a lot of football, across three competitions, still to be played this season and we want to keep pushing on all three fronts.
“Chris’ qualities are well known across the league and, as he moves into his mid-20’s, he is coming into his prime years.
“He has played regularly in the Irish League for the last four or five years now and knows what it takes to do well in this league.
“Both he and we are confident he can continue to develop his game even further in a full-time enviornment.”
Boss Lynch also had a special word of praise for the outgoing Shea Gordon.
“I wish Shea every success as he moves on,” he added.
“He is a tremendous professional in everything he does and he has written his name into the history books of this club in with what he achieved last season.
“Shea will always be remembered as a league champion at Larne Football Club and he goes with everyone’s very best wishes.”
Chris will wear the number 27 shirt at Inver Park this season.
