Larne Women yesterday announced the signing of Erin Montgomery from Lisburn Rangers.
The young midfielder who had previously spent her career at Cliftonville and Lisburn Rangers, playing at both Academy and first team level, sat down with Kyle McClure to discuss her move to Inver Park.
KM: Erin, welcome to Larne Football Club, how does it feel to join?
EM: It’s amazing, it feels good to join such a great club and I can’t wait to get started!
KM: For anyone unfamiliar with you as a player, can you tell us a bit about your background?
EM: I’ve previously played for Lisburn Rangers in the NIWFA, and before that I played for the Cliftonville Academy, making my way up to the first team in the Premiership. I’ve played at Inver Park before, it’s a great pitch with some great facilities here I must say.
KM: As you join the Inver Reds, what are you looking forward to most with the move?
EM: Definitely getting started, being a part of this team and helping it make its way up the league. I can’t wait to meet the team; I’m also looking forward to the challenges ahead.
KM: What convinced you to join?
EM: The professionalism here at the club, both the men and the women’s side, the facilities here at the club is like nothing that I’ve ever seen before.
KM: Being a young player yourself, what do you hope to bring to the team?
EM: I hope to bring good vibes and high energy to the team, along with goals to get the team to where we need to be.
KM: As you know Larne is a team which has climbed the leagues in recent seasons, having been promoted last season to the top-flight, what do you hope the team can achieve?
EM: I hope to stay in the league this season, and make sure our place is secured. Then next season we can go compete against some of the tougher teams in the league and become one of them teams which others don’t want to play against.
KM: Joining the team, what are your personal goals with Larne?
EM: To hopefully get some silverware in the next couple of years, for myself to explore opportunities to grow and get achievements collectively as a team next season.
