AN impressive first half performance laid the foundation for victory at the Ballymena Showgrounds as goals from Paul O’Neill and Conor McKendry earned a derby victory.
Gary Haveron’s men took control of the game early on and deservedly broke the deadlock when O’Neill – who already had a goal ruled out for offside – swept home a Tiarnan O’Connor cross.
The lead was doubled seven minutes before the break when Conor McKendry produced another goal from outside the box, for his second goal in as many weeks.
The Invermen saw the game out in the second half as they maintained third place in the Sports Direct Premiership table.
Larne now face a double-header at Inver Park with Tuesday’s BetMcLean Cup tie against Bangor, before the Premiership tussle with Portadown on Friday.
