Final day rout seals Premiership title

LARNE raced over the finish line to the title in emphatic fashion with an 8-0 win at home to Dungannon Swifts.

Requiring only a point to be sure, the Invermen were 3-0 up after half an hour thanks to Andy Ryan’s opener, before Matty Lusty showed composure to bag a brace of goals.

Lusty completed his hat-trick early in the second half before Ryan went on to likewise.

Sean Graham produced a clinical finish to get on hte goalscoring action, with Paul O’Neill coming off the bench to lob home a superb goal of his own and make it eight.

For good measure, Rohan Ferguson kept his 21st clean sheet of an extraordinary league campaign before the Gibson Cup arrived in style via helicopter and the celebrations got underway at a packed Inver Park with the Premiership crown being secured for the third time in four seasons.
