We are delighted to announce that Aaron Donnelly has penned a new long-term contract extension at Inver Park, committing his future to the club.

Having arrived at the club ahead of the 2022/23 season, the 24-year-old has enjoyed huge success during his time at Inver Park so far, playing a key role in securing back-to-back Sports Direct Premiership titles and County Antrim Shields, accompanied by this summer’s historic UEFA Conference League – League Phase qualification.

Alongside a trophy-laden two and a half seasons within the collective group, Donnelly has quickly become a fans’ favourite for the consistency of his performances during his time as an Inver Red.

The versatile defender was named as the club’s Young Player of the Year at the end of the 2022/23 season, before claiming Players’ Player of the Year upon the conclusion on the 2023/24 campaign alongside recognition from four supporters’ clubs as their Player of the Year overall.

Upon signing his contract extension, Donnelly expressed his desire to build on the past two seasons. He said:

“I’m really pleased to have put pen to paper and extend my stay with the club for the long-term. I’ve loved every minute of my time at Inver Park to date as part of an excellent playing squad which has been very successful so far.

“The future of the club is going to be very bright, and I can’t wait to play my part in trying to bring as many trophies back to Larne as possible. This is a really special group of players and coaches, and I think we have much more to achieve, I’m ready to keep working as hard as I can to ensure we remain successful for many years to come.”

First team manager Nathan Rooney expressed his delight at the defender’s new deal, adding:

“Aaron has been an outstanding player for the club during his time here so far and I am delighted that he has committed his long-term future to Larne and is dialled in to creating more success for the town.

“Still a young player within the game, Aaron has huge potential to continue working hard, developing and getting even better during the next stage of his career with us, which is something that should really excite all of our supporters and everyone associated with the club.

“As a group, we want to continue building on the solid foundations laid over the past number of seasons and ensuring that players of Aaron’s ability remain at the club is vital towards achieving further success down the line – I believe this news to be a real statement of intent for the future.”
