Larne Football Club is aware of a photograph circulating from last night’s UEFA Champions League game against FK Crvena Zvezda at Inver Park.
During the first half, a flag of a political nature, appeared over the advertising hoarding at the McKay Stand. Once this was brought to our attention our stadium security team acted swiftly to remove the flag.
Last night was an historic night for the club, the town and the whole community, welcoming a club with the size, stature and history of FK Crvena Zvezda to our home. This should not be overshadowed by the acts of a lone individual, who is not a Larne Football Club supporter and was attending the match as a neutral in the home section.
As a club, we reiterate our position that political emblems and displays have no place in football.
