Captain’s Corner – We’re all looking forward to Inver under the lights

In the second edition of Captain’s Corner, we speak to Jeff Hughes as he reflects on our 0-0 draw with Coleraine, before looking ahead to our next game, which takes place at Inver Park this Friday night against Glenavon. Here is what Jeff had to say:

“Saturday saw another competitive outing at The Showgrounds, against a well drilled Coleraine side. We got exactly as we expected, a tough game against a side in great form, although I thought the lads applied themselves really well and put in a solid performance all over the park. Again, on another we come away with a win and nobody would have said that it wasn’t fully deserved due to the performance we put in.

“A special mention must go to the supporters. I asked last week for a big atmosphere, and they delivered by providing a fantastic backing from minute one to minute ninety. The lads thrive off the noise from the stands and it definitely played a vital part in our performance on the pitch. Thank you for coming out and getting behind us.

“Friday night’s game will see the start of a busy October period for us, with league and cup games aplenty. We look forward to the month ahead and see it as a chance to get a bit of a run going before heading into an important period in the season over the November/December months.

“Glenavon will come down seeking retribution from the heavy defeat at the hands of Linfield over the past weekend. We expect nothing other than another difficult game which as a group we will have to be on top of our game to get a result in.

“Both staff and players can take confidence from back to back clean sheets, and we will use this as a base to build on as we prepare for the game through the week on the pitch and in the gym.

“Inver Park under the lights for a Premiership game is something that supporters have craved for throughout the past decade. As a team we will do everything in our power to put another fighting performance in on the pitch, and again look forward to a packed home end and an atmosphere to match, if not better what we heard at The Showgrounds last Saturday.”
