Captain’s Corner – Jeff Hughes

Following Larne’s 3-0 victory against Ballymena United, captain Jeff Hughes spoke to us about the impressive victory and gave his thoughts looking ahead to Monday night’s televised fixture against Crusaders, live on Sky Sports.

He said: “I think the lads put in a fantastic shift against Ballymena. It’s not often that you go away to the Showgrounds and win so convincingly.

“I thought that the boys were at it from the first minute right until the last and gave everything on the pitch. Credit must get to the travelling supporters who came out in their numbers and gave us a vocal backing throughout the game. The vocal support helps to push us on and it really makes a difference to the team.

“Crusaders will be a very tough test on Monday night, but to bring these teams to the town in front of the Sky Sports cameras is the reason we are all here and it will be yet another important milestone so early in our journey as a club.

“It was a hard-fought encounter when we played them at Seaview earlier this season, but we played well on the day and come in confident in our abilities.

“We know that we will need another top performance if we are to get a result. Crusaders have come off the back of a few bad results so will come to Inver looking for three points.

“I keep saying it, but we need to have another large vocal support like we had on Saturday as it really helps to drive us on.

“See you all on Monday night and enjoy the game.”

The Inver Reds take on Stephen Baxter’s Crusaders side this Monday (11th November) live on Sky Sports. Tickets for the game, which will be played out under the lights at Inver Park, can be purchased here: larnefc.com/tickets/
